On Saturday October 8th CrossFit Storrs will be heading over to All Out Fitness in East Hartford.  Anyone who is brave enough is welcome to compete in the 3rd annual Throwdown to crown the fittest person on Thomas St.  The Throwdown will begin at 9am.  If you are competing, be ready to throw down with some of the fittest crossfitters around in 3-4 WODs.  CrossFit Storrs will be closed for classes on the 8th so I hope you can make it out there.  I will be posting an at home WOD for those who can’t make it.  If you don’t want to compete you should still stop by to cheer on and watch some amazing athletics.  Please let me know if you would like to compete.

The Throwdown will take place at 29 Thomas St. East Hartford

Also, CrossFit Storrs will be getting together with CrossFit Thin Blue Line in Manchester for a fun filled day of workouts for a great cause.  Please open your hearts and your wallets and donate to St. Jude’s Hospital.  The event will take place on Sunday October 16th at CrossFit Thin Blue Line.  You do not have to be a member to join in. So I hope to see most of you there.  Please click the link below to donate!

Great showing yesterday.  Looks like some of your hands are starting to calus up.  And I like it.  That’s what you want!  Make sure you aren’t using too much chalk on your hands.  The more chalk you use, the more likely you are to rip your hands.  I know your hands are getting sweaty and you are loosing grip.  But use a towel to wipe them off first then use a small amount of chalk to dry your hands and add friction.  You don’t need to cover them!

***IF YOU ARE A UCONN STUDENT AND YOU ARE COMING IN TODAY, BRING ME THE SCHOOL PAPER!***

Looking good!  I love seeing you guys in here more and more.  And you can definitely see some changes.  Some of you have told me about them.  And I can tell how excited you are.  And I love hearing that you have never been able to achieve some of these goals before.  Some of you I can just see.  You are getting faster, using heavier weights, shedding some poundage.  Keep it up!  And most importantly, keep a log of what you are doing!  So you can see first hand what gains you are making.

I hope you got your fill of burpees yesterday.  I know I did.  I don’t think you can learn to love them.  You just gotta do it!  Burpees are a mental game.  Soon we will be doing WODs that are “100 burpees for time” or the burpee challenge.

CrossFit Storrs will be teaming up with CrossFit Thin Blue Line in Manchester for a full day of workouts to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  It will take place in October at CrossFit Thin Blue Line.  More info to follow.

Your arms should be feeling pretty burnt out by now.  But I’m not done with them yet.  If you came Monday-Wednesday, it would be wise to take a rest day today.  If not, get in here.  We haven’t done enough burpees lately.  I’ll help you make that up today!

The 6pm class last night was awesome! 9 people in one class!  CrossFit Storrs is growing very fast.  I’m already getting excited about expanding the place.  We will see what happens.  When we have a big class like last night, I will usually break you up into heats.  If you are not in the first heat, I expect those who are watching to cheer them on!  It’s a lot of pressure to do something so new and intense with other people watching you.

When you are done, if other people are still working out, or there is another heat after you, I want you to stay if you can!  You just had people cheer you on, do the same for them!  You never know what might push a person to get that extra round in there.  It just might be your encouragement.

WOD

4 rds for time:

400m run

15 thrusters (95/65)

15 pull ups

I want to know how you are doing!  I want to know if you see a difference in your body.  Do you feel healthier?  Are you making better choices in what you are eating?  I can already see some improvement in some of you that are taking CrossFit seriously.  You are toning up.  You are moving from the purple band to the blue band in pull ups.  You are switching from the 25lb kb to the 35lb.  I love it!  I want you all to keep posting your times under the comments section after each WOD.  Let everyone else know how much you have improved too!
